Two kings in one kingdom
Description
Is the world big enough for Airbus and Boeing?
There are two builders of large commercial aircraft worldwide: Boeing and Airbus. In a market with only a few hundred customers, they compete with each other to the death. A plane that sells poorly can spell ruin.
- What are the strengths and weaknesses of Boeing and Airbus planes such as the A380 superjumbo and the 787 Dreamliner?
- Why does Boeing have such a problem with the subsidies Airbus receives from France and Germany?
- Why does Airbus build planes in China, helping the country develop competitive planes someday?
- Will Boeing and Airbus continue to exist together or will one of them win the competition?
Hans Heerkens (Faculty of Management & Governance) will address these and other questions at this lunchtime lecture on Tuesday 31 March.
