The Netherlands and Europe are becoming increasingly dependent on other countries in various technological fields. This makes it important to consider how we can enhance our technological resilience and how we can continue to make our own strategic choices in the areas of the economy, security and democracy.

At KIVI, we believe it is important that the knowledge and experience of engineers are taken into account in this regard. That is why, on Tuesday 22 September, together with the Netherlands Academy of Engineering (NAE) and the Stichting Toekomstbeeld der Techniek (STT), we are organising a Forum on technological resilience. 

During this afternoon session, we will examine three areas in which strategic dependencies play a significant role: oil and gas infrastructure, digital infrastructure and engineering talent. Experts will share their insights, after which we will continue our discussion in three breakout sessions. The central question will be what we can do, from an engineering perspective and through systems thinking, to reduce these dependencies in the short, medium and long term.

The Forum will take place from 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm and is open to members of KIVI, NAE and STT. Afterwards, you are welcome to join us for drinks from 6.00 pm, followed by a BBQ.

Speakers
Lucia Geuns, strategic energy adviser at the Hague Centre for Strategic Studies (HCSS), Hans de Jong, special envoy for the talent challenge in the Beethoven project and chair of the Supervisory Board of the Platform for Talent in Technology (PTvT), and Bert Hubert, software developer, entrepreneur and technology commentator, will share their views on the various issues.

The afternoon will be moderated by Marissa de Boer (SusPhos) and Tim Houter (Hardt Hyperloop).
