Explanation of profile and settings Video

Public Profile

In your community account, under Profile & Settings, you will find the 'Privacy Settings'.
The first setting you will see is the heading 'Public Profile', by turning this slider to orange, your name and possibly photo will become visible in the member book. This ensures that other members can find you by name.

This does not give full access to your other data. You can switch these on or off as you wish per section. Read on below.

IMPORTANT: Your name and data are at all times only visible in the member book for KIVI members. Data will not be shared outside the association or with non-members.

Public profile - without further permission

You can see here an example of what your profile would look like if you did make your profile visible, but otherwise did not give permission for other settings such as your department, e-mail address, LinkedIn, address and the like.

Public profile - with permission

You can see here an example of what your profile would look like if you do make your profile visible, while also giving permission to share your email address, LinkedIn, department and employer.

Privacy Settings

In this series of privacy settings, you choose what information other KIVI members may see about you in the member book. Note that this information is also reflected in the search filter, e.g. department. So this aids the functioning of the member book.

Most of the settings in the list are self-explanatory.

We'd like to explain the last one 'Activity registrations'. This setting ensures that other members can see which activity you go to.

Go to your privacy settings

Activity records institution

In the previous step we explained where to find this setting, in this step we will explain where you can find it.

Click on your profile picture and go to 'my activities', click here on an activity.
If you scroll down you will see the heading 'participants', here you can see who all goes to this activity.

Please note, you will only see this of the members who have this privacy setting turned on, and you will only see this for activities where you yourself are also registered.

Profile - Personal data

Under 'Profile and settings', you will also find the profile heading. Click on the edit icon on the right to edit the data.

Here you will find the following data:

  • Name and date of birth
  • Biography (This will also become a section visible in the filter at a later date)
  • Address details
  • Telephone numbers
  • Education
  • Employer
  • Social Media (Including LinkedIn)

*Entering these details does not make them directly visible. The visibility per item is regulated under the privacy settings as explained above.
