Job Vacancy: North-East Regional Manager
The Royal Netherlands Society of Engineers (KIVI) is the leading professional association run by and for engineers, and as such is the knowledge network that ensures support, visibility and quality for engineers in the Netherlands.
KIVI comprises nearly 50 specialist sections; through these sections, we organise over 300 events, and our programmes bring together professionals, students and organisations. From the KIVI office, and in collaboration with the regional managers, we manage day-to-day operations and maintain contact with the divisions, members, educational institutions and companies.
And that is precisely the role of the regional managers at KIVI.

As a regional manager, you’ll be the linchpin between KIVI members, the knowledge we share, our activities, our partners (collectives) and the wider world. In short, it’s an exciting, innovative and inspiring role.
What are you going to do?
- You will be the point of contact for the departments, alongside two experienced and friendly colleagues, each working in their own region.
- Providing support to KIVI specialist and regional departments (in relation to the website, promotion, offering a listening ear, and occasionally attending meetings)
- Guiding KIVI professional and regional branches in developing their vision and assisting with their strategy (contributing ideas regarding Measurement & Verification)
- Supporting the KIVI Students and Young KIVI Engineers branches
- Assisting with and during events, trade fairs and open days
- Attending relevant external events and trade fairs in the local area
- Seeking out partnerships with companies, associations and educational institutions in your region
- Informing (student) engineers about the benefits of KIVI (and KIVI membership)
- Working alongside our dynamic and knowledgeable colleagues to raise KIVI’s profile
- Helping new and existing members with (keeping up to date) their membership and online community profile
- Helping branch committees recruit new committee members
- Recruiting new collective members in the region. Collective memberships are arranged through the employer (the company), so you will be recruiting companies.
- You’ll work two days a week from the ‘KIVI room’ at the University of Twente. Here, you’ll be close to students, alumni, lecturers and school boards.
Your skill set
- Excellent communication skills; active listening, inspiring others, persuading, informing
- Presentation skills; presenting to audiences of all sizes and ages about KIVI
- Creative thinker; representing KIVI in new ways in collaboration with the marketing team
- Willing to travel within the region; recruiting external parties in the region and building partnerships
- Experience with MS Office required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Experience of working with CRM is an advantage (Dynamics 365
- A network within the education sector is an advantage (particularly an understanding of connections and networks; knowing who to approach for what)
- Flexible regarding occasionally irregular working hours (events at weekends or in the evenings)
- Willingness to travel to The Hague periodically to meet up with colleagues
- Residing in the north-east of the Netherlands, within travelling distance of Twente.
- Good command of Dutch and English.
Terms and Conditions
Type of employment:
- 32-hour fixed-term contract for one year. There is a possibility of a permanent contract following the one-year contract.
- Salary: €3,000 – €4,000 (depending on your knowledge and experience)
- Hybrid (working from home, University of Twente office, The Hague office)
