Tim Horeman-French wins Prince Friso Engineer Prize 2016
Dr ir. ing. Tim Horeman-Franse (35), Technology Director of MediShield BV, Technology Director of Surge-On Medical BV and Research fellow BioMech engineering TU-Delft, was today elected Engineer of the Year. He received the Prins Friso Ingenieursprijs at Hogeschool Inholland Delft, in the presence of Princess Beatrix and Princess Mabel, from the hands of Martin van Pernis, president of KIVI. The institute awards the prize annually.
"Tim can be characterised as a true engineer, driven by a clear vision. He has the ambition and ability to turn his innovative ideas into real products, effectively improving a piece of healthcare," said jury president Micaela dos Ramos.
Tim Horeman-French studied Biomedical Engineering at TU Delft and also obtained a PhD in that field. Before that, he completed the Mechanical Engineering course at Hogeschool Inholland Alkmaar. He founded three technostarters: TIMEdelft, MediShield and Surge-On-Medical. Horeman-Franse is Director of Operations and Technology of Medishield, a company that develops medical sensors, training systems and surgical instruments. From Surg-On-Medical, which develops endoscopic instruments, he is Director of Technology. He is also a researcher and lecturer at TU Delft.
