KIVI is working with the Ordem dos Engenheiros de Portugal (OEP) to strengthen cooperation between the two professional bodies. This cooperation focuses, amongst other things, on professional recognition, international cooperation and the exchange of knowledge.

On 1 September 2026, representatives from KIVI and OEP met in Porto for a bilateral summit. They discussed the implementation of the existing agreement on professional recognition, including applications from Dutch and Portuguese engineers, and possible improvements. Attention was also paid to international activities, previous joint initiatives and new forms of cooperation.

During the meeting, KIVI and OEP signed a new reciprocity agreement. This strengthens the existing framework for cooperation. The agreement means that the title ‘Certified Engineer’, obtained through KIVI, is recognised in Portugal by employers and engineering associations, and vice versa. The agreement also provides scope for further joint activities.
