Title: Our Robotic Adventure

KIVI Kring Caribbean - Aruba is proud to host a special event featuring a presentation by local students and young professionals from The STEM Embassy of Aruba who recently represented Aruba at the First Global Robotics Competition in Athens, Greece. The STEM Embassy is a center for knowledge and resources aimed at guiding youth from Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao in their discovery and growth in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

Join us as the students share their unique experiences from this global competition and showcase their journey of designing and building a robot to compete on the world stage.

Meet the Team:

  • Guiyan de Nobrega (17 y/o)
    Hobbies: MTB, programming, running, software and mechanical engineering, YouTube.
    Future Studies: Robotic Engineering (possibly)
    Favorite Experience: “Everything to do with the robots.”
    Fun fact: This was Guiyan’s second time representing Aruba at the FIRST Global Challenge.
  • Princess Thaisha Tucker (17 y/o)
    Hobbies: Football, dance, singing, gaming.
    Future Studies: Chemistry
    Favorite Experience: “Meeting Team Jamaica in person.”
  • Angeline Lacle (16 y/o)
    Hobbies: Singing, cooking, playing volleyball.
    Future Studies: Biology
    Favorite Experience: “Getting to meet new people and exchanging goods.”
  • Ruarth Lampe (15 y/o)
    Hobbies: Playing piano and swimming.
    Future Studies: Something in STEM, possibly Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
    Favorite Experience: “Connecting with other countries and learning from their experiences.”
  • Quintin Lochtenberg (15 y/o)
    Hobbies: Playing basketball and instruments.
    Future Studies: Veterinary Science
    Favorite Experience: “Getting to meet new people from around the world.”

KIVI KRING Caribbean - Aruba invites all engineers and others interested to attend this presentation which will take place at the MFA Government building at Santa Cruz 47 on Thursday October 31, 2024 at 7 to 8 p.m. followed by KIVI’s networking session from 8 – 9 p.m. while enjoying a drink and a snack. An entrance fee of 15 AWG fls is charged to KIVI members to cover the costs while non-members are charged 20 AWG fls. There is a free entrance for students and PhD candidates at the MFA Santa Cruz.
