What is the KIVI EngD Award?
The KIVI EngD Award celebrates the exceptional achievements of recent EngD graduates who combine scientific rigour with societal impact. The award recognises finalists who have applied advanced technical knowledge to solve complex challenges in industry, research or society.
For applicants:
By taking part in the EngD Award, you’ll gain access to a relevant and diverse network and, if you participate and attend the awards ceremony, you’ll receive one year’s free KIVI membership. In addition, should you win, you will benefit from increased visibility, such as an interview in *De Ingenieur* and coverage via KIVI’s communication channels. Finally, you will have the chance to win a prestigious work of art and a cash prize.
Criteria and conditions
Entries will be assessed by an independent jury, comprising representatives from academia, the business world and civil society, on the basis of the following criteria:
- Innovation – creative and practical solutions that push the boundaries of technology.
- Impact – demonstrable contributions to industry, research or society.
- Leadership & collaboration – inspiring teamwork, professionalism and the sharing of knowledge across disciplines.
By recognising these qualities, the award not only honours individual achievements but also highlights the unique contribution of the EngD programme to the Dutch innovation ecosystem.
Register as a candidateBenefits of attending the awards ceremony (for EngDs and others):
- Expanding your professional network
- An interactive and inspiring day
- Meeting other EngD graduates and colleagues
- Direct contact with industry representatives
- Opportunity to present yourself and your work and bring it to the fore
Please note: all participants are, in essence, finalists. The winners are not ‘better’ than the other participants; every entry represents a high level of expertise and commitment. The decisions of the jury and the public are final and not open to discussion.
