On Saturday 12 September, KIVI will open the doors of its magnificent building on Prinsessegracht in The Hague for Open Monument Day 2026.

Pop in to our listed building between 10.00 and 17.00 and find out all about its rich history, its current condition and what we’re doing to preserve it. You’ll be amazed by the stories behind this special location.

Patrician House

This patrician house, built between 1726 and 1728, became the property of the Royal Netherlands Society of Engineers in 1919. It is the only building on the Prinsessegracht whose entrance is not centred. 

The staircase, with its lavish Louis XIV-style stucco work, dates from the time of its construction. At the front is the spacious President’s Room, featuring a richly decorated ceiling and a historic mantelpiece.
