Challenges in greening Tata Steel Netherlands

Tata Steel Netherlands is on the eve of the biggest transition in its existence as it transitions to a steelmaking process with lower CO2 emissions. Even as we speak, many improvement processes are already underway, aimed at both CO2 emissions and improving the environment immediately around the plant. At the same time, there is a lot of (geo)political movement that does not make the transition any easier.

Steelmaking is a complex process in which many factors are interrelated. From an overall picture of the intended transition, we will zoom in on some of those dependencies and how research and development is being done on them
