Description

Companies' safety performance (measured in incidents per hours worked) is constantly improving. Fewer and fewer people are injured or unable to return to work the next day. Unfortunately, this trend is not observable in fatal accidents.

In 2009, BST conducted research on this at several companies (multinationals) including ADM the company I work for. One of the results of the 2009 study was a division of accidents into (potentially) very serious and the (potentially) less serious accidents.

Behaviour is already looked at using a list of 8-10 behaviours. There are also minimum requirements for what should be regulated in terms of safety and monthly reports on Incidents. In order to improve further, a group has been given the task of examining which behaviours can contribute to reducing (potentially) very serious accidents (incidents).

As a participant in this group, I would like to tell you about:
the process we went through,
the results this yielded and what an organisation can do with this.

Of course there will be room for questions and discussion.
