Relativity theory close to home
Lecture by Tim Leek
When we think of relativity theory, we usually think of rockets or trains travelling at very high speeds, close to that of light. So a far from my bed show really, something you won't get your hands burnt on if you let this physics matter pass you by, right?
In this KIvI lecture, we show that relativity theory can be very close, and that you have to deal with it on a daily basis. Well, you can say that, but we want to see that convincingly demonstrated. Without too difficult formulas, please, which would soon make us lose track. Tim Leek, a technical physicist and regular guest at the KIvI lectures, takes us step by step into a new world, which we thought we already understood, but are now learning to appreciate from a different angle.
