Smart Industry in practice
Description
In 2014, the FME, TNO, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, VNO-NCW and the Chamber of Commerce, among others, joined forces to work on Smart Industry. Smart Industry stands for far-reaching digitalisation, the linking of products, machines and people and the use of new production technology. This offers many opportunities for existing and new companies in all sectors and is good for the competitive position of the Netherlands worldwide. TNO is active in various content areas within Smart Industry. One of the topics concerns Human-centred technology. Think of exoskeletons and cobots that make heavy, dirty and dangerous jobs lighter, cleaner and safer. And of support with Augmented Reality to perform complex actions flawlessly. Or to robots and machines that can be operated intuitively. This technology makes people employable earlier and for longer, ensuring they find value in their work and have more fun doing it. At the same time, it makes a large labour market available to an industry crying out for workers. And it makes companies more competitive. In his presentation, Tim Bosch will give an overview of recent developments in human-centred technology in the (Dutch)
manufacturing industry.
