The new isotope (PALLAS) reactor (combined with the North West region's New Year's reception)
The PALLAS reactor is the new medical isotope reactor that will replace the High Flux Reactor (HFR) at Petten. The establishment licence for the new PALLAS reactor was issued on 15 February 2023. PALLAS will start future activities for the production of isotopes for diagnosis and therapy as well as (medical) nuclear research. The arrival of the PALLAS reactor will allow the Netherlands to continue treating or examining millions of people with radioactive substances in the nuclear department of a hospital over the next 50 years by producing medical radioisotopes. This will make the Netherlands a top global producer.
Jan van der Marel, technical director, will tell more about the PALLAS programme and the pallas reactor.
The New Year's reception of the North West region will take place beforehand
