The new sea lock at IJmuiden
Description
The new sea lock will be the largest in the world and should allow more and larger ships to enter the port of Amsterdam. The lock must last at least 100 years, planned and unplanned maintenance, wear and tear of mechanics, oyster and mussel growth, collisions must be taken into account; the door must continue to function as much as possible and Amsterdam must keep dry feet etc etc. And then there are the many different parties that have to work together in this multidisciplinary project to arrive at the right design choices.
