This new desalination plant is highly efficient which will reduce electricity consumption by 15%. The plant will contribute to the sustainable development of the island, presenting IDE's technological solutions as a show case in terms of environmental awareness.

Bonaire's New Desalination Plant
Reusing water - Sustainable water resources
While nearly 70% of the planet is covered with water, only 2.5% is freshwater and of this, only 1% is accessible. Water sources are becoming scarcer as time passes. Around the world, people are becoming more environmentally conscious and it is time to streamline water treatment more and optimise the treatment process and make it more environmentally friendly. Water reuse, including salt and brackish water and industrial water are a few areas where sustainability can be achieved. Reuse is the process of treating wastewater, saltwater, rainwater, greywater, etc. to be reused as freshwater such as drinking water or in industrial processes or discharged into surface water or into the ground as groundwater. Several new and improved water technologies have been developed in recent years in light of a sustainable era.
