Description

The Maasvlakte 2 mega-project is heading towards completion within budget and schedule and in line with the requested quality. The method of tendering has certainly contributed to this. The contract provides for a partnering clause for the ultimately chosen hard seawall, which, after intensive cooperation between client Port of Rotterdam Authority and contractor PUMA, resulted in a sound and price-quality technically interesting solution. Besides innovative design, innovative equipment developments (including the hydraulic crane with a lifting capacity of 50 tonnes at 60 m), survey techniques and working methods were also brought in by the contractor combination PUMA, Project Organisation Maasvlakte Extension, a joint venture of hydraulic engineers Boskalis and Van Oord.
