Propulsion systems in aerospace
Description
Dutch companies and institutes are quite active in the field of propulsion systems and components for satellites and components such as igniters for rockets.
Bradford Engineering, an SME in Heerle N-Br, has been supplying many propulsion systems and components to ESA, Sweden and the UK for years.eSA, Sweden and the UK for satellites including GOCE, Swarm, ADM-Aeolus, Proba and Prisma.
APP, an SME in Klundert N-Br, has for decades developed and manufactured hundreds of igniters for e.g. the heavy Ariane-5 rocket and the new Vega smaller rocket. Advanced igniters are also developed for new reusable launch vehicles.
TNO Defence and Safety works closely with Bradford, APP and TUD, among others, on a multitude of systems and components. For instance, TNO has been conducting research on new igniters, gas generators, micro-propulsion and cold gas systems for about a decade....
At TU Delft, Faculty of L&R, important research in this field has been taking place for more than 50 years, with many graduate engineers working at TNO, Bradford, ESA, etc
