This activity has been moved to autumn

KIVI Asset Management & Maintenance and IAM Netherlands are organising a project visit to the Royal Navy of Ministry of Defence in Municipality of Den Helder. During a tour we will visit the various #assets on this site by coach and listen to the stories of the #assetmanagement experts. On Thursday 25 April 2024, we will be warmly welcomed by Roel Takes (Senior advisor real estate at MINDEF) for the following programme::

- Plenary meeting

- Short walk to the lunch location

- Tour by coach (including large dry dock; Dock VI)

- Closing

Our speakers are:

- Lkol ing. B.G.M. van Wissen (Head of Programme Management at DVM)

- Lkol ir. J.P. Meijer (Expert Asset Management)

- KLTZ (TD) ing. E.O. Pul BBA (Specialist (lead) user experience)

Additional information:

At The Institute of Asset Management, this year's theme is 'I AM Circular'. At the Royal Institute of Engineers, the theme is: 'Engineering the Future'.

What does this actually mean for the Ministry of Defence's assets, we asked ourselves at The IAM NxtGen & Young KIVI Engineers. Will they soon go back to working with circular materials like wood to build their ships or will they soon come up with electrically rechargeable tracked vehicles? When I spoke to Tülay Berk (Department Head of Sustainability at MINDEF NL), John Verheijen (Director of Defence Infrastructure & Property Management at MINDEF NL), Marjolein de Wit-Blok (Hostess at the National Military Museum and KIVI Board Member of the Defence & Security Department) and Tiedo Tinga (Professor in Maintenance at Netherlands Defence Academy & University of Twente), among others, I still got a different picture. She suggested that the new generation visit the Royal Navy in Den Helder so that we can see with our eyes where they stand you.

Guided tour

During the guided tour, we also get off the bus. In doing so, we try to fit into the programme one visit to the large indoor dry dock. This is certainly impressive when a ship is dry docked inside.

To gain access to the New Harbour, participants should be registered in time to get past security. Instructions on this will follow over the mail.
