Vision Ret Fleet Management on ISO 55000
We have managed to put together an interesting programme for you in collaboration with Hakan Zor, manager Fleet Management of the RET and Tony Bostelaar co-member of the KIVI Maintenance Department and lecturer at the Haagse Hogeschool.
The afternoon's theme is the application of ISO 55000, the international standard for asset management, and how to use it to improve your operations. ISO 55000 provides owners of capital assets (such as factories, property owners, infrastructure managers, energy sector/network operators, municipalities) with a tool to manage their 'assets' in an efficient, sustainable and cost-effective way, aligned with the organisation's strategic goals and stakeholders' needs.
Fixed topics have been defined, which a company or organisation should consider in the Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP) and in department-level asset management plans (AMP). The ISO 55000 is based on 4 fundamentals: Value, Alignment, Leadership and Assurance. The alignment between the aforementioned plans each at its own level, for example, is essential for performing excellent asset management.
RET achieved ISO 55001 certification in 2015. With this certificate, RET was the first public transport company in the Netherlands to achieve this new level of asset management. RET is proud of this, as this certification indicates that they deal with the management and maintenance of their vehicles in the most optimal way. Good management and maintenance ensures high equipment availability. In practice, it means that passengers suffer less from breakdowns in RET's vehicles. In addition, with this transparent way of asset management, they also save money.
Asset management ensures that RET takes care of the most appropriate ways and moments of maintenance from the moment of purchase until the moment of retirement. The basic principle here is that the vehicles are continuously available and reliable during their lifetime, comply with all safety regulations and maintenance remains affordable. RET has 112 trams, 167 metros and 263 buses in circulation). Good management and maintenance contributes to a longer life of the assets. For instance, buses last more than 10 years, trams last around 25 years and metros around 30 years.
