Description

The renovation of the Queen Juliana Bridge in Alphen aan den Rijn would see the new bridge deck pointed into place on 3 August 2015. This was to be done by two cranes on pontoons in the water. However, the crane fell over, causing it to fall onto the buildings on the quay.

Barbara Renier will come on behalf of the Safety Investigation Board on 28 March to talk about how it was possible for the lifting combination to topple over. The lunch lecture is from 12:30 to 13:30 in lecture room E of the Faculty of Civil Engineering at TU Delft. This lunch lecture also includes a free sandwich for attendees.
