Excursion Amaliahaven KIVI / Young Pianc

On 14 September, KIVI and Young Pianc are organising a project visit to the Amiliahaven in Rotterdam.

Container volumes in Rotterdam are expected to continue to grow strongly in the coming years. To further strengthen its leading position as Europe's largest container port, the Port of Rotterdam Authority is investing in the further expansion of the Princess Amaliahaven located on Maasvlakte II. In the Princess Amaliahaven, container terminals APM Terminals and RWG operate with 1,500 and 1,700 metres of quayside respectively. The construction of new deep-sea and inland waterway quays allows these companies to further develop the other sites around this port.

The new construction will be on both sides of the approximately 2.5-kilometre-long port. In total, it involves:

  • 1.825 metres of deep-sea quay with a retaining height of 29 metres
  • 160 metres of inland navigation quay
  • 360 metres of earth retaining walls
  • free dredging of the quays to a depth of more than 20 metres below sea level
  • construction of a rear crane track on piles over a length of about 1.8 km, over which the rear legs of the future container cranes will ride

The project visit is organised and sponsored by the Port of Rotterdam Authority and its engineering firm MariTeam (collaboration between SBE, M.U.C. and Iv-Infra).

The agenda for Thursday, September 14, is as follows:

  • 13.15 h Meeting at P+R Slinge; everyone gets on the bus towards the construction site
