Description

The symposium 'Strijd tegen water' of Het Gezelschap "Practische Studie" will focus on the question "Is hydraulic engineering still the export product of the Netherlands?". Chairman of the day Prof. Drs. Ir. J.K. Vrijling will introduce the day. There will then be a choice of several lectures, by Dr I. M. Ledden and Ir. P.T.M. Dircke, among others. After this, there will be a choice of five case studies. The day will end with a debate in which various speakers, professors and, of course, students will participate.

The day has been organised by seven students of Civil Engineering from TU Delft.

The symposium will start with an inspiring introductory lecture for all participants, this lecture will serve as a starting point for the rest of the day.

After the introductory lecture, two more lectures will follow on two different topics related to the theme of the symposium. After these two lectures, participants will divide into different groups. In these groups, they will work on a number of case studies in the afternoon. They will also listen to some in-depth lectures.

The day will end with a debate between the different groups. Afterwards, there will also be drinks.
