CiO'12: The Netherlands' knowledge exports
Description
Civil in Development is a symposium organised by Het Gezelschap "Practische Studie", the study association for Civil Engineering students in Delft. This symposium will take up two afternoons, on 10 and 11 October 2012. Titled 'CiO'12: The Dutch Knowledge Export', it will examine the current position of the Dutch civil engineer in the international world. Currently, the Delft engineer is still regarded as one of the best, especially when it comes to civil engineering, but are we losing our grip on this strong position? To what extent do other countries still need our knowledge? In other words: how should the Dutch knowledge export of civil engineering develop in the coming years to avoid being sidelined internationally?
On the first day, we will address this theme in the field of water expertise through two lectures and a panel discussion. The main focus here will be on the contradiction between technical and policy solutions in projects abroad.
On the second day, we will look at the other fields of civil engineering, using workshops to challenge students to apply for themselves what they learned the day before.
