Description

The new Delta flume at Rotterdamseweg in Delft is to replace the current research facility in the Noordoostpolder. In terms of size and testing possibilities, the new facility is unique in the world. In the Delta flume, Deltares carries out tests for national and international hydraulic engineering projects, such as breakwaters and dike revetments.
The new facility will be 300 m long, 9.5 m deep and 5 m wide, making it considerably longer than the current facilities. The length of the facility is necessary to properly simulate wave deformation over gradually rising coastal profiles.

The excursion consists of a presentation and a tour. Departure by bicycle from the Faculty of Civil Engineering. It is also possible to come to the Deltares site where the flume is being built: Rotterdamseweg 185 in Delft
