The Hondsbossche en Pettemer Zeewering (HPZ) is a Weak Link in the North Holland coast. It no longer meets legal safety standards. Therefore, the coast is being reinforced with sand and also made more attractive by improving the layout.
Hoogheemraadschap Hollands Noorderkwartier, Rijkswaterstaat and the province of North Holland jointly drew up the programme of requirements for reinforcing this Weak Links. The contractor combination Van Oord-Boskalis is carrying out the reinforcement and is also responsible for maintenance for the next 20 years.
Now that the project is in full swing, it is time for a mini-symposium on the ins and outs of this fine project
