Innovation in management and maintenance
Description
The government is cutting back heavily on civil projects. But project developers are also putting a lot of work on hold. This is putting increasing pressure on the current facilities that have to provide the same quality for longer than they were designed for. To guarantee good quality, the lifespan of various objects needs to be extended. Performance-based maintenance contracts are increasingly used and managers are looking for ever cheaper solutions. What initiatives does civil engineering have to improve maintenance and management? Which techniques already exist but are not yet applied? In other words: how do government and companies respond to these new ideas and technologies to improve maintenance and management?
The symposium "Innovation in management and maintenance - The future for Civil Engineering" looks at various innovations to make maintenance and management cheaper, easier and/or more sustainable. Due to budget cuts, more focus will (have to) be put on extending service life and thus maintenance and management. How can maintenance and management be better taken into account in design? How can the use of materials contribute to more sustainable use? Which innovations can be applied to improve maintenance? This symposium will answer these, and similar, questions
