Invitation Bresgroei Trial
You are invited to a breach growth experiment
On 27 June, VPdelta+ and Polder2C's teams welcome you to TU Delft's Flood Proof Holland living lab. This is a living lab focused on smart alternatives to the sandbag, testing and demonstrating smart monitoring tools/data collection and experiments for more effective dike management. In this living lab, floods can be simulated to test and improve innovative temporary flood defences. In addition, a test dike has been constructed on the polder site, where a lot of research is taking place on failure mechanisms such as 'piping' and breach growth/dike erosion.
Join us on 27 June!
On 27 June, TU Delft PhD student Mario van den Berg will perform a live breach growth experiment on the test dike to gain a better understanding of breach growth in the presence of foreland. This research is part of the INTERREG Polder2Cs project. We hope you will attend this special event with us and Mario.

More information VPdelta+ and Polder2Cs
VPdelta+ is an innovation programme of TU Delft. VPdelta+ coordinates living labs in which startups, scaleups, SMEs, students, scientists and area managers test, improve and demonstrate innovative concepts. The programme also facilitates and organises cooperation between knowledge institutions, governments and companies. In this way, VPdelta+ stimulates and accelerates innovation and application of climate adaptive solutions.
Polder2Cs is an international project aimed at making the 2 Seas region more climate-adaptive. Fourteen partners from this region are uniting to be better prepared for the effects of climate change together. The project has a number of focus areas: the strength of flood defences, emergency measures and engaging the workers of the future. Polder2Cs receives a contribution of €3.9 million from the European Interreg 2 Seas programme 2014-2020, co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
