Lunch lecture EMVI
Description
During the lunch lecture, Daphne Kerpel of Dura Vermeer will talk about EMVI: Economically Most Advantageous Tender. EMVI allows tenders to be awarded not only on the basis of price, but also on the basis of quality. A contractor can only carry out projects after the contractor has been awarded the project. This is almost always preceded by a tender and often EMVI plays a role in it. So in the contracting industry, this topic is very relevant. Daphne Kerpel will show how EMVI works in practice in the context of the Boekelose Bridge project in Hengelo.
The Boekelose Bridge to be built is a bridge never before built in the Netherlands, according to architect and builder. Crossover solar panels in the asphalt make the bridge energy-neutral. A special powder coating makes the burg require less maintenance. Both the Municipal Executive and the committee that supervised the tender unanimously chose the design by Hengelo-based contractor Dura Vermeer in collaboration with architectural firm Ney and Partners.
The bridge costs just under 8.2 million euros, the amount set aside by the municipal council. This investment includes the sheet piling to be installed. Furthermore, the renewal of the road surface between the bridge and the junction Breemarsweg-Boortorenweg can also be paid for from the available budget.
The design, chosen from a total of five designs, had to meet numerous aesthetic standards and, above all, be innovative. The University of Twente, also looked at the designs before it in the committee. Chairman Ton Schaap of the Supervision Team Hart van Zuid had made a kind of railway timetable in advance, showing contractors the way.
The bridge to be built will be roughly 20 metres wide, much wider than the current bridge is roughly 12 metres wide. "The difference is in the space given to pedestrians and cyclists on the new bridge," explains the councillor. He refers to separate walking and cycling lanes on the bridge.
