Multilayer safety and infrastructure
Description
Purpose
The purpose of the symposium is to share knowledge on the state of affairs with regard to multi-layer safety policy and the role of Vital Infrastructure in it, and to connect the various stakeholders on this theme.
Fulfilment
We will fulfil the purpose by means of 5 presentations and a panel discussion at the end, led by Ferdi Timmermans. The aim is to discuss with the panel whether we are doing the right things with Multilayer Safety and Vital Infrastructure?
Is vital infrastructure (gas, electricity, water, telecom) taken into account (sufficiently) in Multilayer Safety (flooding) or is it underexposed? Are the interests of grid operators seen by water operators, and vice versa? How important is VI it and what are the consequences if it fails? Are grid operators aware of the risks and consequences for society if it goes wrong? Are water operators aware of the risks and consequences for grid operators? Is it legally secured?
Target group
National government, Delta Programme, RWS, Water Boards, Provinces, Municipalities, Safety Regions, Network Operators and Contractors.
Result
After the symposium:
- people know where the NL flood policy is heading and what the standards will be;
- people know how critical vital infrastructure is;
- people know what the consequences can be of failure (due to flooding) and why it is important that this item is/remains on the agenda;
- people know how other network operators deal with their assets i.flood risk (benchmarking);
- do policymakers know how network operators view the subject and vice versa;
- do they know where the technical and legal gaps are in laws and regulations on vital infrastructure;
- have contacts been established between the participants
