Spring excursion to A16 motorway extension - for Civil Engineering students only

KIVI Construction and Hydraulic Engineering Section offers Civil Engineering students the opportunity to broaden their horizons by coming into contact with experienced engineers in the future professional field, as well as fellow students from other courses. Contacts in the professional field are very important for a successful career. This KIVI excursion to the extension of the A16 motorway from Terbregseplein to the A13 near Overschie is an excellent opportunity for that.
The construction of the A16 started in 2019. Currently, work on the new motorway is in full swing at Terbregseplein, in the lower Bergse Bos and along the N209 (Doenkade) towards the A13. To avoid disruption to local traffic, the Groene Boog construction consortium has constructed a separate construction road for transport in 2020.
Work is in full swing on the fly-over the Rotterdam-Utrecht railway line as well as the connection to the Terberg Square interchange and the construction of the tunnel under the Rottemeren lakes. This extremely interesting and large infrastructure project is a must for any aspiring Civil Engineer to have visited. The project will run until 2025.
There is room for a maximum of 40 students for this excursion. The excursion is free for students who are KIVI members (or wish to become members), the own contribution for other students is 5 Euro.
The excursion starts with a reception at the Experience and Expo Centre A16 De Groene Boog in Rotterdam. Address: Eekhoornplaats, 2661 GR Bergschenhoek
