Description

The restoration of flood defences involves many hydraulic and geotechnical challenges, leading to innovative technical solutions that we will see in practice with this excursion. The dyke improvement KIS is in full swing and there we will see the following dyke improvement techniques:
Location Gelkens:
- installation of bored piles with concrete cover
- soil filling to improve the inward stability

Location Nieuw-Lekkerk
- installation of diaphragm walls

Location Sluis / Opperstok
- raising the height of the dike including temporary over height
- emptying ditches at the toe of the dike
- installing bored piles

Location Streefkerk
- raising the height of the dike including pore pressure measurements
- relocating cables and pipes

In preparation, you will receive a lecture by Bram de Fockert, project manager KIS on behalf of Waterschap Rivierenland, about the ins and outs of the KIS project.

Then Gerjan Westerhof, technical manager KIS on behalf of water board Rivierenland, will take us outside for an in-depth explanation.

To conclude the excursion, Henrike Branderhorst, department manager Water at Tauw, will give a presentation on the big task of the HWBP versus the new way of thinking; the water system of the future
