Some time ago, KIVI Bedrijfskunde-Zuid held its 2nd symposium on the theme of Preserving and Reshoring Manufacturing. About 150 attendees followed the presentations of four speakers working: in science, as manufacturers, at a research agency and at the Ministry of Economic Affairs. Each speaker highlighted the topic from his specific point of view. The presentations ended with a lively and engaged forum discussion with firm statements.
Academically talking about it is one thing, doing it is another. However, this does not apply to Capi Europe, among others. The condition for reclaiming production is to abandon the old way of working. A different approach is required. Previous Reshoring excursions to Omron (Den Bosch), Interfocos (Bladel), Ferro-Fix (Rotterdam) and Emerson (Breda) demonstrated this. At Omron, the formula for success was TQM, at Interfocos QRM. At Ferro-Fix through successful deployment of employees with a Social Workshop indication. At Emerson, the "Time to Market", among other things, played a major role.
Robotisation was missing from the still modest list, but Capi Europe is now providing that.

During the visit to Capi, the managing director will explain why Capi Europe has retrieved its production from China and how it has succeeded in realising lean production in the Netherlands by mechanising or robotising the most important production step. Reshoring thus achieved many additional benefits in terms of loyalty, lead time, delivery time, quality, flexibility, transport costs, manageability and time to market. For this, the market rewarded Capi Europe with a large increase in turnover, which made a move desirable in 2017.
Capi Europe shows that retention and Reshoring of Manufacturing Industry for the Netherlands not only pays off, but can even be a must.
