Economy versus people and environment
Description
The demands placed on the chemical industry are becoming increasingly stringent with the national and European focus on safety, health and the environment. During this evening, Science Café Leiden will focus on regulations in Chemistry. Mr J. Dingemans will take us into the world of laws and regulations and responsibilities of chemical companies in the Netherlands.
Mr Ir. Dingemans works at the Association of the Dutch Chemical Industry (VNCI) as spearhead manager Safety, Health & Environment. In the chain from raw material to finished product, she represents the companies that use chemical processes to make their products. She wants to create optimal conditions for the chemical industry so that functioning, growth and quality are promoted.
It promises to be an interesting evening: How many rules do companies have to comply with? And is it actually possible to make rules applicable to so many different companies with different raw materials and processes? We will also discuss how to communicate with local residents to create an open dialogue.
