In this age of digitalisation, companies need to respond deftly to new market developments by providing innovative products and services to their customers. In doing so, they are also looking for new ways to reduce the cost of their business processes and increase productivity through new concepts such as Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). These concepts, although not completely new, are now starting to gain traction.

In this lecture, you will get an insight into:
- The different automation concepts like Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Intelligent Case Handling.
- The growth path from RPA to intelligent automation
- What are the key players in the Intelligent Automation field?
- What are the criteria for choosing a particular technology?
- How to arrive at a solid business case for implementing these technologies?
- The prerequisites for a successful implementation.
- Some practical examples of this technology in daily practice.

In recent years, most companies have implemented an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, including central databases. In addition, so-called 'work-flow' systems have been linked to the ERP system, which have automated the internal approval process. Currently, many organisations are busy moving these systems to the 'cloud'. This opens up new opportunities to make optimal use of the data from these systems and further automate business processes; opportunities that build on existing implementations. After automating the factory, it is now the office's turn.

Automating business processes involves using new technologies such as Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Intelligent Case Handling. These new technologies are currently getting a lot of attention, but what exactly do they do and how do they work? Despite the fact that most companies are currently busy moving systems and processes to the 'cloud', it is important to look further ahead already, because the aforementioned new technologies are fast approaching and bring many new opportunities for further cost reduction and process optimisation.

.

The lecture will be concluded by going through some practical practical examples in the field of P2P and F&A at large companies, which are at the forefront of this technology and from which lessons can be learned. From these examples we can see what determines a successful implementation and what the added value is, both financially and on an organisational and human level
