Description

There has been extensive press coverage of whether or not to give permits in Boxtel and Haaren to the English company Cuadrilla.

We would like to give Cuadrilla, EBN and the University of Tilburg the opportunity to explain their views on this subject to us.

Beforehand, we asked Cuadrilla and EBN a number of questions that will be addressed by the experts:
- What is the structure of the project budget; in particular, also items unforeseen and risk estimates?
- Which contracts must all be concluded before the exploratory drilling can be converted into production drilling?
- Will the municipality and/or residents be any the wiser; (resistance will be less if you also benefit e.g. in lower municipal charges)?
- Do you have opportunities for graduate students?
- What does unconventional gas extraction do for the economy of the Netherlands
- Is it a transition brandsof on the way to sustainable

Together with Tilburg University, this topic is scheduled in a study colloquium and a number of students will also attend the lecture:
(lecture room number you will receive later)

There are 100 seats; 40 for KIVI/NIRIA members and 60 for students.

Henk Duyverman is a geologist and director of Brabant Cuadrilla and responds:
- Would you - very briefly - explain the technology of drilling
- Why are the municipalities so against drilling?
- What is your economic/financial drive to want to invest in this kind of project?
- Making a profit with a new technique
- How does the story of burning water in Dimock get into the press?
- What does the planning look like if you could go ahead uninterrupted from now on?
- How do you see the future?

Ms. mr. Maxine Tillij Director Corporate Affairs EBN (Energiebeheer Nederland) discusses:
- What does the investment cost more (especially the construction of the well) than the set-up in the USA ( Dimock)?
- How is such a project financed; what return does the investor want?
- How many m3 of gas must be produced before the investment is out (pay-back time)?

Dr Tamara Metze is University Lecturer in Public Administration and Political Science at Tilburg University and covers:
- who are the stakeholders in a decision on whether or not to drill for shale gas?
- What are their interests?
- how does decision-making take place?
