Randstadrail project management
Description
RandstadRail connects the city centres of The Hague, Rotterdam and Zoetermeer and opens up the intervening residential and working areas. RandstadRail means an important improvement in the quality of public transport.
The realisation of RandstadRail is an extremely complex project in which, in a busy, built-up environment, work is carried out on transport capacity for the future within a tight time schedule. An interesting project, therefore, with many technical and project management aspects! For this evening, we have invited Mr Wim den Adel, general project manager at Randstadrail, to give a lecture on the successes and challenges he has encountered in the project management of this major project.
Wim den Adel has around 35 years of experience with major infrastructure projects including the Oosterschelde Storm Surge Barrier and Schelderadarketen. For the last 12 years, he has mainly worked on the expansion of the Rotterdam metro network (Benelux line and RandstadRail). He started as a bridge builder in 1973 and bridges have always held his warm interest, including the Erasmus Bridge and two bridges in Suriname.
Once a year, according to KIVI NIRIA's statutes, each department must hold an annual meeting to coordinate policy and finances with the members. Generally, this annual meeting is held in the first half of a calendar year so that the councillor of the department can take recent results to the KIVI NIRIA membership council meeting.
The central part of the programme will be a lecture by the Randstadrail project manager, Mr den Andel.
