Description

Shapeways is a 3D printing service and community. Their mission: to make it possible for everyone to design, make and sell products. These products are made with 3D printers. Shapeways was founded in Eindhoven in 2007 by Peter Weijmarshausen, Marleen Vogelaar & Robert Schouwenburg, and is currently the world's leading 3D printing company.

It is now possible to choose from 56 materials, in print runs from single pieces to thousands. All designed by you using the apps provided by Shapeways or your own favourite CAD software.
Shapeways facilitates commercial trading and distribution of your own designed products in the field of 3D printing. All this places high demands on internal processes, which is why Shapeways itself has designed a completely new ERP programme. This makes Shapeways the ultimate extension of the customer.

Quick Response Manufacturing (QRM) and Shapeways
QRM is an organisation-wide strategy aimed at serving today's market faster with customer-specific products. This through continuous reduction of lead times. QRM was developed in the US in 1997 by Professor Rajan Suri. The focus on time translates into better quality, lower indirect costs and reshoring of production, in addition to a quick response. Shapeways has very successfully implemented QRM in its production, resulting in "high mix AND high volume". You will be amazed at the success when this business strategy is followed.

QRM is a continuous improvement process where teamwork, ownership, communication and creativity are very important pillars. Shapeways gives us the opportunity to learn about their high-tech production resources in a very unique way. What's more, we get to think along with them about how they can improve an existing production problem. We achieve this by working together creatively according to the time-tested "Company Visit New Style" concept.

Set-up meeting new style
All participants are sent information in advance to prepare for a problem area at Shapeways. This will form the common thread during our meeting. Shapeways, for its part, will allow us to look more inside the kitchen than we are used to. This creates more depth and a greater WIN-WIN scope, with an increased chance of spin-off effects for all parties.
