Description

Business administration in the heart of the Netherlands
Where Utrecht is building a new Stationsgebied.

The KIVI Department of Business Administration is organising the above-mentioned activity on Friday afternoon 25 April 2014, for a maximum of 25 of its members, free of charge.

Utrecht is building a new Stationsgebied. This is necessary; since the construction of Hoog Catharijne there was overdue maintenance, degradation, a growing number of travellers, a growing number of inhabitants of the city as well as a need to get the water back into the canal. With the construction of the new Station Area, we are tackling all these things at once.

Reason:
Utrecht Centraal has been too small for the number of travellers for years. The station was once built for around 35 million passengers a year. But currently, some 88 million people use the station every year. This number will only increase in the future, expected to reach around 100 million travellers by 2030. That is why ProRail is building a new public transport terminal in the next few years.
