Waste-to-Energy Plant SITA ReEnergy
Description
After years of preparation, SITA ReEnergy has an entirely NEW waste-to-energy plant. Since 2011, the ReEnergy plant has been generating around 256,000 MWh of electricity. This is enough to meet the energy needs of 70,000 households. Choosing ReEnergy is a choice for sustainability. As much as 56% of the electricity supplied by ReEnergy has a green label. Green energy relieves our climate. Incinerating the waste, which is not suitable for recycling, also reduces the consumption of fossil fuels. That's a double climate gain!
The electricity generated is supplied directly to the grid. In addition, the plant's heat is supplied to neighbouring greenhouse farms. This ensures a constant climate for them all year round. ReEnergy has a very high electrical efficiency and is considered a recycling plant rather than a final treatment facility according to the EU General Waste Directive (R1 versus D10 label) . The energy produced enables low processing costs. ReEnergy's energy efficiency ranks among the top in Europe
ReEnergy makes an important contribution to the security and continuity of waste processing in the south of the Netherlands. The plant can process the waste of more than 1,900,000 citizens annually. The latest process technology, with a water-cooled combustion grate and dry flue gas cleaning combined with SCR NOx reduction ensures low-emission combustion. The technology ensures that the demanding clean gas limits of the IED (Industrial Emission Directive) standard are definitely not exceeded.
