Description

World Class Manufacturing: the computers out the window!

Perhaps the best control is no control. If there is no stock on the shop floor, you don't need to manage it either. Employees who don't have to choose from a cafeteria of work also don't waste time making that choice. Organising becomes more important than planning and good organisation always wins over a planner. The prerequisite is that the organisation can change with the environment. The above principles are widely applied under the name Single Piece Flow or Demand Flow Technology.

World Class Manufacturing aims to maximise customer satisfaction at minimum cost; simply being the best in one's niche.
World Class Manufacturing is top-class sport. Without continuous training, there are no automatisms and effectiveness and efficiency are not optimal. However, today's winning concept is tomorrow's middle man. World Class Manufacturing is also about continuous improvement and controlled change.

The Nacco Materials Handling Group builds forklift trucks and reachstackers sold under the Yale and Hyster brand names.

The Nijmegen site is globally responsible for the development and construction of the heavier trucks with lifting capacities from 8 to 52 tonnes.
In recent years they have made a very big step in redesigning the company and applying demand flow techniques and visual management; an example of world class manufacturing. But referring to the constant need for training and change, this is really only at the beginning.
