Reliable engineering work starts with engineers' craftsmanship
For this, good training is indispensable. In some fields of work, such as fire safety and structural safety, it may be necessary to have demonstrable extra training and sufficient experience and to keep this up to date during one's career in a professional register.

For other reasons too, engineers may choose to distinguish themselves by having their craftsmanship tested and registered. Royal Nlingenieurs therefore advocates (professional) registers such as the Constructors' Register or the Chartered Engineers.
