Data and Sport: Is data a must or a nice to have and what does its use mean for the future?

Data is the new gold. As an information professional, you are probably familiar with this cry. Algorithms and artificial intelligence are said to be totally changing the world. But where does this really stand? When can you rely on algorithms and when do you use your common sense?

Initially, in collaboration with our sister association the KNVI, this Super Tuesday event was to take place online only, but a great opportunity arose for a hybrid execution. Hence, this event will take place both on location and virtually (online); the choice is yours!
Digitally, we will only broadcast the speakers' presentations and the Q&A. If you register to take part on location, you can experience the unique Formula 1 Experience at The Official F1® Racing Centre: boarding one of the (sixty) specially designed Formula 1 simulators. Thanks to Floris Boers of The Official F1® Racing Centre in Utrecht!

Speakers
We have arranged three speakers: Tim Coronel and Allard Kalff as well-known practice specialists and Luuk Figdor as IT/Data Specialist. For more information about the speakers click here.

Our practice experts - Tim Coronel and Allard Kalff - are of course well-known drivers from various races and television, and each have a view on the use of data in their sport. You can talk to them; about when they rely on algorithms and when they use their own senses and judgement. We will also discuss how the use of data came about and what that will look like in the future.

We have also managed to rope in Luuk Figdor from Amazon Webservices (AWS) especially for you; he will give us a peek into the AWS kitchen when it comes to data, real-time processing and the whole cloud side.
This promises to be a special meeting!
