Sustainable ICT project presentations
On Friday 4 March, KIVI NIRIA hosted 61 (international) students, teachers, distinguished guests and KIVI NIRIA members for the final presentations of the international project 'European Project for Sustainable ICT in Academic Education'.
During this afternoon, the students showed what they had been working on in the Netherlands over the past weeks. Among those interested were Doekle Terpstra, chairman of the board of Inholland University of Applied Sciences, and Edwin Berends, KIVI NIRIA board member.
Terpstra thanked the students for their efforts and emphasised once again during his opening speech: "There is no alternative but sustainability." He also stressed the importance of KIVI NIRIA for the Netherlands.
Brayn Alibaks, board member of the Computer Science Department, intervened in the closing debate.

Description
KIVI NIRIA will host around 60 (international) students on Friday 4 March at a concluding meeting of a project on green ICT. During an exhibition, the students will present the outcome of their research in groups to their fellow students, lecturers, business stakeholders and KIVI NIRIA members. They do this using poster presentations, scale models, computer animations, etc. This will be followed by a forum discussion with pithy statements on the connection between green ICT, business, education and society. The forum consists of representatives from the business community, supplemented by international lecturers and board member of KIVI NIRIA's Computer Science Department, Brayn Alibaks.
The (mainly) ICT students come from: Finland (Metropolia University), Britain (Birmingham City University), Greece (National Technical University of Athens), Austria (Upper Austria Univeristy of Applied Sciences), Slovenia (University of Ljubljana) and the Netherlands (Hogeschool Inholland). A total of 61 students are participating in the project, officially titled 'European Project for Sustainable ICT in Academic Education' (EPSIAE). This EPSIAE project is partly funded by the European Erasmus programme and could also count on a contribution from the Support Fund for Technical Higher Education, an initiative of KIVI NIRIA.
The aim of the project is for students to gain a better understanding of the increasing scarcity of energy and materials and the impact this has on ICT and the environment. In a positive way, students learn to find solutions for this within an international context.
We therefore cordially invite you to attend the project presentations on Friday afternoon, 4 March, and to join the discussion on this fascinating topic.
Given the international nature of the project, the language of communication during the meeting will be English. There is no cost to participate.
