Description

The Thales Group is a global electronics company active in aerospace, defence and information technology. Thales Netherlands is the largest defence company in the Netherlands and produces radar, communication and command & control systems for naval vessels, as well as communication, security and payment systems for industry. Thales Netherlands is part of the Thales Group with 68,000 employees in over 50 countries, making it one of Europe's largest electronics companies.

Among other things, radar systems and the command and control system Tacticos for naval vessels are developed by Thales in Hengelo. These systems naturally have a large software component.
In 2009, the CMS applications department at Thales Hengelo started introducing Agile Scrum in the development of the TACTICOS Combat Management System (CMS). Since then, Thales has learned a lot and they have grown and become more efficient with the use of Scrum. Thales now has more than 12 scrum teams, all of which deliver and integrate parts of TACTICOS, in a short cyclical manner, enabling Thales to deliver the required software qualitatively, efficiently, and on time. A 30-minute presentation will cover how Scrum has been deployed, what the "lessons learned" are, and how Thales now applies "Scaled Scrum".
