Start-up phase of (large) projects
Description
"Challenges and solutions in the start-up phase of (large) projects"
In cooperation with the Utrecht Region and the Special Interest Group Governance, the first in a series of mini-seminars will be organised on 12 October. At this first one, KIVI Informatics members are explicitly welcomed.
In recent years, IT projects in government and semi-public institutions such as the UWV and the SVB have been in the news negatively. Newspaper articles and television reports on large losses on failed projects and various problems with suppliers in large tenders. The Elias committee conducted a parliamentary enquiry, but many doubt whether the recommendations will lead to sufficient improvements. Some even speak of "old wine in new bottles". What is true of such qualifications? Has paying attention to this issue led to substantial change, or is the underlying problem tough and persistent?
In a series of mini-seminars, we highlight the question of how to deal with this from different angles, addressing both the issues and solution directions. In short, how to steer large projects and programmes.
This will include the 'soft' governance issues such as behaviour, trust and culture as well as the 'harder' governance issues such as control, transparency and keeping the system in balance.
During this first meeting of the series, we will discuss the initial phase of projects. This will address questions such as:
- What have we learned from previous evaluations of (large) projects?
- What is the role of the client?
- How should we deal with each other in the client-supplier relationship?
- How do we achieve trust and what to do if it is lacking?
Target audience of the mini-seminar are IT professionals and interested parties in the private and public sector
