The first Turntoo building
On 1 October 2014, Slimbouwen, in cooperation with KIVI, is organising an excursion to Brummen Town Hall. This much-discussed project concerns the temporary extension of a monumental building realised according to the Turntoo principle. With speakers such as Thomas Rau, Dinant te Brinke and others, we will highlight the opportunities and challenges of this innovative way of building, but also take a critical look at whether this is the way we should realise all projects in the future. Why Brummen Town Hall?
The Brummen Town Hall, completed in March 2013, is a 20-year temporary housing project. In this
project, the monumental villa from 1890 was restored to its former state and a U-shaped two-storey extension was placed around it.
It is precisely the temporary nature of this assignment that makes this project so interesting. It was decided to apply the Turntoo concept to ensure high-quality yet temporary construction. With this in mind, the new building was designed as a raw materials depot and was delivered as more than 90% demountable
