Description

Presentations and Tour.

The contract for new construction and subsequent 15-year maintenance has been awarded by Utrecht University of Applied Sciences to the SPARK consortium, consisting of Strukton Worksphere and BESIX. Sustainability, BREEAM excellent, is the starting point for this new home of seven HU institutes. Realisation started in summer 2016.

Sustainability has been central to the design process for HU University of Applied Sciences' new accommodation from the start. This translated, among other things, into the use of LED lighting, heat-cold storage and PV cells, thus laying the foundation for energy neutrality in the building. The chosen installation concept not only contributes to sustainability objectives; above all, it ensures a pleasant and comfortable indoor climate for the users. BREEAM Excellent is the starting point here.

Sustainable maintenance is also carried out in the 15-year operational phase. This includes the use of electric scooters and cars and maximum reuse of released materials. By using Strukton PULSE, the platform for higher comfort, lower energy costs and reduced CO2 emissions, Strukton Worksphere supports corrective and preventive maintenance and continuously optimises the sustainability targets.

Sustainable in design and use
Many things are sustainable in the new building for Utrecht University of Applied Sciences. Energy-efficient lifts and escalators will be installed, study and work areas will have as much daylight as possible thanks to the large artrium and the temperature can be regulated in every room. Solar panels and green roof gardens will be installed on the roofs. This is building a pleasant study and working environment for students and teachers.

The SPARK consortium, a combination of BESIX and Strukton Worksphere, has been awarded the contract for new construction and subsequent 15-year maintenance.

This efficient, flexible and sustainable building of over 22,000 m2 was designed by Danish architectural firm Schmidt Hammer Lassen. This new building provides seven institutes of Utrecht University of Applied Sciences with a recognisable 'home'; the atrium, the institute squares and the café provide all the space they need to bring people together and connect. The study facilities include two large auditoriums for over 200 students, two smaller auditoriums, a TV and radio studio, classrooms and a bicycle shed with 1,200 places.

Participants are requested to bring their own PPE (jacket, helmet and safety shoes) if possible. If you do not have these, please inform Kim Aartsen.
