Description

The board of KIVI NIRIA Bouw cordially invites you to participate in a short excursion to the New Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, which is currently under renovation.
The renovation is at a stage that makes a visit to the project interesting. The construction of new souterrains under the courtyards, and the connection under the famous bicycle passage, is in full swing.
The 24 columns of the cycle passage rest on heavy piles that need to be replaced in connection with the new basement to be made. The masonry columns, which were later poured over with concrete, run wide downwards and are an obstacle to the new access to the museum. Therefore, the columns are now placed one by one on temporary steel frames, which are supported by screwed tubular piles. Jacks are used to transfer the compressive forces from the existing columns to the temporary steel frames.
We will look at the spaces under the subway where part of the building is on the temporary steel frames, and we will also look at the solution for bringing in the installations from an installation duct around the building through
directional drilling right into the building.

We are guests of the project's contractor J.P. van Eesteren and construction consultant ARCADIS.

You are expected between 14:45 and 15:00 at the entrance gate to the construction site on the south side - gate 1 - on the Museumplein side.

If you come by car, it is best to park in the Museumplein garage.

The lectures will be held in the former executive villa, now used as the contractor's project office.

The programme is as follows:

15.00 - 15:45: explanation of the (structural) design by ARCADIS (Dieneke Grimmelius);
16:00 - 17:00: tour of the construction site and inside the building.

In connection with the tour of the construction site, you are requested to bring safety shoes, and if possible a helmet (is also in limited supply on the construction site).
