Redevelopment of Ten Cate site
Description
Royal Ten Cate's 23-hectare site was bought by Ter Steege Vastgoed in 2001. Because Ten Cate leased the premises back, Ter Steege Vastgoed had plenty of time to develop plans for Almelo Indië. The historic buildings were given a prominent role in the redevelopment. The first homes arrived in 2014. Construction is currently halfway through. Ultimately, there will be around 600 homes, partly rental and partly owner-occupied. Sustainability has been worked out in several variants.
Ter Steege Vastgoed has retained a number of homes with different energy labels as investments and is constantly monitoring energy use. It is a kind of testing ground where you can see what people are doing with their homes in practice.
